At Basov Infrared Laboratory, I studied metal to insulator transition for various materials, including VO2. I applied uniaxial strain to different samples while measuring their electrical and mechanical properties under an atomic force microscope (AFM). In order to integrate the two sensitive pieces of equipment, the uniaxial strain cell and the AFM, I designed a holder that constrains the strain cell and attaches to the AFM.
